Iran’s Secret Railway Route To China: Can It Bypass The Strait Of Hormuz.
While The World Keeps Its Eyes On The Strait Of Hormuz, Iran Is Exploring Alternative Land Routes To Maintain Trade With China. A railway corridor connecting Tehran With China’s Xi’an Through Central Asia Is Becoming Increasingly Important Amid Maritime Disruptions And US Pressure.
According To Reports, Freight Train Movements Between China And Iran Have Increased From Around One Train Per Week To One Every Three Or Four Days. An Iranian parliamentary official has also claimed that the country could transport 300,000 to 400,000 barrels of crude oil daily through combined rail and road networks.
However, Rail Transport Still Cannot Match The Massive Capacity Of Oil Tankers. Analysts Describe This Route As A Potential Emergency Lifeline Rather Than A Complete Replacement For Maritime Oil Exports.
